Not sure it is so much of manually switching. With android phones if there
is a know wifi access point within range it automatically uses wifi. The
logic being wifi will probably have a fast and or cheaper connection to the
internet.

I see Verizon is selling the samsung galaxy tablet - runs android (not
sure if that is "close enough" for your purposes)

they are running a promo for the 3g access - $20/month for 1GB of data
(it is also wifi capable, so if you [remember to] manually switch to
wifi, you won't use your 3g allotment)
