I have a (much more modest) static-IP DSL hookup, but it's from
DSLExtreme, and your questions seem to concern only SBC.  (Note
DSLExtreme use SBC wires.)

Yes, except DSLExtreme, not SBC.  No problem.  bind9, and I use the
"views" feature to present one DNS view to the outside world, another
to interior machines in my LAN.
