I stopped in to the verizon store this evening and asked - the
official sales stance is "6-8 hours of use" per charge.  He couldn't
tell me the actual capacity of the battery, nor was it
displayed/written anywhere that I could see.

is that in the market?  [what app is it?]  I know for the droid you
can get (some?) information from the "settings" app / "battery
manager" panel.  this shows the current state-of-charge, and tapping
the battery picture shows you the useage "since it was last unplugged"
(in other words, when "running on the mains", it doesn't appear to log
it, but then, does it matter?)

I've not seen cell/wifi come up on mine when I've checked (most
"applications" are between 2-5%, the OS seems to be 5-7%, and the
display, like yours, hits upwards of 50% - interestingly, I saw an app
that I didn't realize "was still running", and it was chewing up 12%!
time to consider a task killer...) [and yes, I know "that can make
things worse..."]  supposedly, clicking the "back" button (to get to
the main screen) will tell the app to "stop" after a short while, but
clicking the "home" button puts apps in the background/idle state and
will NOT stop them until memory is tight.  this UI really needs and
explicit "I'm done with this app, now kill it" button...

anyway, back to the galaxy - took me a while until I could find an app
where I could "type" on the on-screen keyboard to see how well it
would work in a note-taking situation.  with auto-correct on, it did
fairly well (but I would recommend proofreading all the same)  then I
tried the voice dictation...

so, I said, "how well does this take audio notes if you are in a noisy
environment where you cannot talk too loudly"

it chewed on that a moment, and entered "this is a TEST" - well
how-de-doo, boys - it understood WHAT I was doing :)

so, I said, "now THAT is FUNNY", and it came back with "nasa" - great,
just what the world needs - an electronic comedian to take notes for
you...
