Wow. I had rented one about a month and half ago.  So I just called Autozone to confirm and they're no longer available for rent!  He mentioned some California law that went into effect about a month ago.  Sorry for the misinformation. YMMV

I thought they stopped that because of the liability issue. At least
that's what I heard and confirmed @ one store when I asked about their
loaner tools.
