I, for one, was never sure what the big deal over the end of RHL was.
Basically, Fedora replaced it 100%. I never called RH for tech support,
even though the companies I have worked for have had that as an option,
so the fact you can't call RH for help with Fedora is a no-op for me. I
never saw a reason for all the outcry.

-----

Since I started with Debian in 1998 and didn't try anything else until FC2
came out, I don't have any personal experience with RHL. But I have read a
lot of other personal accounts.

The main point that I can agree with after sifting through all of the
emotional rhetoric is that RHL was not end of lifed properly. They pretty
much said RHL9 will end in 3 months and you should buy RHEL and you don't
get any discounts if you bought RHL9. Then 4-6 months later Fedora was
born.

RH had the opportunity to smoothly transition people into RHEL, but
completely missed the opportunity.

PS, I apologize in advance for using outlook and the sh***y quoting it does.

Mike
