OK - seriously, the response from the company
wasn't adequate.

Document your losses

I would write them asking for re-reimbursement
if there isn't an obvious "DO NOT DO THIS sort of stuff".

I understand the Shag carpet issue NOW,
but I didn't think most will think about
that until it melts the shag carpet.

imho, a properly built laptop should
give a warning about excessive heat
build up and clock down when it
experiences that problem.

imho, one should NOT need to by additional
cooling for a laptop. That's JUST wrong
for this product which is supposed to
be a mobile computing platform.

(Corp dog: "Gee.. didn't you know you're
supposed to by a 10lb additional cooling
unit for yout 6lb laptop?")
