[SGVLUG] mashups - maps

Hi!

I was thinking.. 

it would be really cool to have a website
where I can see all the interesting meetings
(such as sgvlug) happening and have them
shown on a map.

this is, iirc, a "map mashup".

so..

i was thinking.. would be nice to have
a website, where "registered" members (to prevent spam)
can submit the meeting location and date, 
(optional approval by a moderator, again anti-spam..
or to keep only good meeting listed.. )

then a normal user can request meeting within
a certain radius w/possible date range... and
get a map, and any appropriate descriptions.

Does anyone have any leads/references to any
Open Source projectscode which may do this??
